Who is eligible for the e-OCI?

The e-OCI is India's official digital OCI card — generated from an existing OCI record on the official Government of India OCI system. Eligibility comes down to one thing: whether your OCI is linked with your current passport.

  • OCI linked with your current passport (the passport number printed on your card matches, or you completed the online linking after renewing) — eligible now. e-OCI service, £50, delivered generally within 24 hours of order confirmation.
  • Passport renewed within the last 90 days, never linked — online linking is the route. OCI Link + e-OCI, £125 total; the e-OCI follows once linking completes (typically 40–45 days end to end).
  • Passport renewed more than 90 days ago, never linked — handled fully online too, no VFS visit: our Passport Details Update, £125 with e-OCI included. The Government of India may charge an additional fee (approximately US$20–25, at current rates), payable separately.
  • OCI card lost or damaged — no booklet chase, everything is online. OCI linked with your current passport → the £50 e-OCI. Not linked → the £125 Passport Details Update (e-OCI included).
  • OCI application in progress — add the e-OCI for +£25; it's generated after your OCI is processed on the official system.

Common eligibility questions

How do I know if my OCI is linked with my current passport?
Look at the passport number printed on your OCI card. If it matches your current passport, you're linked. If it shows an old passport number and you never completed the online linking after renewing, it's most likely not linked — the checker above will point you to the right route.
My passport was renewed more than 90 days ago — can I still get the e-OCI?
Yes — and it's all online now, no VFS visit. Your record needs your new passport details first: our Passport Details Update (£125) handles that and includes your e-OCI, generated once the update is processed. The Government of India may charge an additional fee (approximately US$20–25, at current rates), payable separately.
My OCI card is lost or damaged — can I still get the e-OCI?
Yes. If your OCI is linked with your current passport, order the £50 e-OCI — an official, QR-verified copy on your phone. If it isn't linked, the £125 Passport Details Update (e-OCI included) sorts your record and your card in one go.
